ABOUT US
HISTORY
Debre Genet Medhane Alem Wekidist Mariam E.T.O.C. was founded in May of 2016 in a small, rental building in Irving, TX. Since then, it has been providing spiritual and social services to its members in Irving and the surrounding cities in accordance with the faith, teachings and traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church. By the will of God, the congregation and ministry of the church expanded and moved to its present location in May of 2022. The church places a high value on fostering community, promoting spiritual growth, supporting believers, and encouraging compassion and service. It serves as a hub for religious worship, provides education in the Amharic language, and promotes understanding of faith and culture while promoting community connections. Beyond its spiritual role, the church supports social integration and offers a sense of identity, continuity, and belonging for Ethiopians living abroad. To achieve these goals, it diligently pursues purposeful collaboration among its members, cultivating deep-rooted cooperation and meaningful partnerships across all believers, from youth to the elderly.
MISSION
Spreading the Gospel, Administering Sacraments, and Providing Spiritual and Social Services to the Community in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex to make them disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
VALUES
Preserving Ethiopian spiritual, cultural, and linguistic traditions for the diaspora community. It serves as a center for religious worship, offers education in the Amharic language, faith, and customs, and fosters community bonding. Beyond spirituality, the church supports social integration and provides a sense of identity, continuity, and belonging for Ethiopians living abroad.
